That’s our feeling for this weekend – but that’s okay, there’s so much happening, we don’t feel anyone can say ‘there’s nothing to do’. Clearly if they can they are walking around with their eyes closed and not listening.
We start the weekend last night. The highly anticipated Rhino awards presentation night, and the first night of the DREAM festival drive in kicked off.
Saturday brings with it parkrun, the annual Central West Pride march, the Relay for Life, the launch of a new film (shot mainly on iPhone), Octoberfest at the Old Bank and of course weekend cricket (did you read yesterday’s editorial).
Then Sunday, which by now we are probably thinking, are you sure it’s only Sunday, how did I fit everything in yesterday, is all about sushi in the gardens and the lantern making workshop.
And that’s only the top half of it. Keep digging and there is still so much more to do around town this weekend.
After a big week already – remember that special visit from the duke and duchess on Wednesday? – we are looking forward to continuing on with all that Dubbo has to offer.
This weekend’s events are important annual occasions for the town. Important milestones each year for us to recognise.
For the Relay for Life team, their event brings hope and raises funds for those suffering from cancer. It shines light on what our residents and their families go through on a daily basis.
The Pride march is more important now than ever before. The LGBTIQA community may have been given the right to marry by the government but they still suffer discrimination on a daily basis in many other ways. Not something we want to see or hear about, but it happens. And that’s why the march is so important.
The Rhino’s celebrate our businesses and the DREAM festival celebrates all things arts and community. We’ve heard from so many people excited about their next trip to the drive in, or keen to enjoy one of the events on offer during the festival.
As it stands with so much on we hope whatever you are doing in Dubbo this weekend, you enjoy it.
