The march will be held in Dubbo on Saturday, October 20. Central West Rainbow Alliance president Nic Steepe said the theme would be unity.

“We think it’s really important one year on from the marriage equality postal vote, that we are all united and we stand together to continue to raise awareness around the issues facing the LGBTI community,” Mr Steepe said.

Mr Steepe said since the Australian Marriage Law Postal Survey misconceptions around the LGTBI community had grown.

“We really want to dispel that myth that just because we’re equal under the law we’re equal in society. We still face issues such as discrimination, homophobia and transphobia and particularly in rural and regional areas there is a lack of support that there is in metropolitan areas,” he said.

“That’s why this year is as important, if not more important than the previous three years.”
