The event will be held at Barden Park on October 20 and 21, starting at 3pm on the Saturday.
The theme for this year is ‘All the colours. All the cancers’, and participants are encouraged to dress up in colour’s that have meaning to theme.
“We want to pack the track with lots of different colours,” Orana Relay for Life committee chair Jason Dearmer said.
The number of people expected to attend is on par with last year’s attendance, Mr Dearmer said.
“And we’ve got quite a few teams which is good.. with 20 teams and 82 participants registered so far,” he said.
“What’s also exciting is the amount of survivors and carers registered.”
The committee is hoping to raise at least $50,000 for Cancer Council NSW, which will go to local projects such as the recently launched Transport to Treatment.
Last year the Orana Relay for Life event raised $45,000.
The funds helped to purchase the Transport to Treatment, which is a free service for cancer patients across western NSW, seeking treatment in Dubbo.

“That’s what the heart of the event is all about,” Mr Dearmer said of supporting survivors and carers.
“And at the heart of Relay for Life is that it’s a community event… it’s bringing people together to support one another.”
This year’s event will include plenty of activities from tug-of-war to Zumba classes to face painting.
There will be performances from Jo Hyndes, Turn On the Lights, Simon Allen and the Unclaimed Millions, and One Proud Monkey.
The survivors and carers walk will commence the event.
A Survivors and Carers afternoon tea will be held at 3.15pm, while the HOPE ceremony is scheduled for 7.30pm.
Cancer Council community relations coordinator for the western region Katherine Bodiczky said they invite all of the community to register for another great event.
“You can even register on the day, so be sure not to miss out,” she said.
Anyone wanting to participate can register or join a team by going to www.relayforlife.org.au/orana. Registration is $20 per person which includes an official Relay For Life shirt and healthy breakfast on the Sunday morning of relay.
