The pair of royal fanatics began their trip with a flight from Western Australia to Melbourne, then flew to Canberra for a short stay with their family before finally making a five hour drive from Canberra to Dubbo.
“We didn’t really want to go to Sydney with all the jostling and the crowds, it was a lot better to come and stay here in this beautiful town to see the royals,” Kerry Morrissey said.
Though only hoping to catch a glimpse of Harry and Meghan during their stay in Dubbo, the pair have been treated to some of the hospitality Dubbo has shown it’s royal guests.
“We’ve been staying at the Shearing Shed Inn and they’ve been so lovely, they lent us ponchos and a rug for us to come out here and see the Royals,” Mrs Morrissey said.
“We’ve been all over the world and it’s one of the nicest places with the nicest people we’ve been.”
But it wasn’t just the thrill of seeing the royals up close and personal that inspired the couple to travel the width of Australia to come to Dubbo, but also the chance to give back to a community they knew had been hit by drought.
“We know what people are going through here, they are doing it hard, so if we were going to spend money we’d prefer it be here,” Mr Morrissey said.
“Every little bit helps.”
