DUBBO Cycle Club’s Kurt Eather has added another illustrious title to his palamres, taking out gold in the under-19 men’s scratch race and points race at the 2018 Oceania Track Championships in Adelaide.

Eather showed his trademark toughness to crack the top placing on the podium in the scratch and points races, while the extremely talented teen also claimed silver in the under-19 men’s Madison when teaming up with Luke Britten.
The star Dubbo rider also placed will in the overall omnium standings finishing fifth, while he finished 14th in the 3km individual pursuit with a time of 3 minutes 31.131 seconds to cap off an incredibly successful campaign in South Africa.
In other Dubbo cycling news, Simone Grounds and Darrell Wheeler will this week compete in the 2018 Cycling Australia Masters’ Road Championships in the Gippsland Region of Victoria.
The Championships is comprised of three events, with an individual time trial to be held first up on Thursday 18th, the road races follow on Friday 19th and the Criterium events finish the titles on Sunday 21st.
Both Grounds and Wheeler were crowned NSW Masters Champions for their respective divisions at the recent NSW Masters Road Championships, where they won a combined five gold medals and dominated the three days of racing to cement their status as some of the finest riders in the country.
The Dubbo pairing will be red-hot favourites in both of their divisions, with Grounds the defending national champion in all three events after taking out those titles convincingly at last year’s Championships.
Elsewhere, Luke Ensor took on a strong field in the men’s A-grade division at the National Capital Tour over the weekend.
Ensor, back on the bike after some time away from the sport, contested the three-stage event – individual time trial, road race and kermesse – with Mudgee Cycle Club and Trek-Segafredo stagiaire Ayden Toovey taking the overall general classification honours.
The young Dubbo rider’s best result was a 21st placing in the kermesse, starting in a field of 58 riders.
On the local front, the first official points round of the Dubbo City Toyota Track Racing Series started on Tuesday night at Victoria Park No. 1 Oval.
Riders were met with windy conditions, which made racing difficult however it remained competitive across all grades with multiple winners in each division.
The Dubbo City Toyota Track Racing Series continues next Tuesday night from 6.30pm at Victoria Park No 1 Oval.
