Ms Kilby, who runs The Infrastructure Collaborative in Dubbo, was given the 2018 NSW and ACT AgriFutures Rural Woman award. However, she missed out on the national title.
Queensland banana grower and food waste innovator Krista Watkins was the national winner. In additional to the $10,000 she was awarded from Westpac for being the state winner, Ms Watkins has received another $10,000 to further her project.

Ms Watkins is looking at uncovering by-products for sweet potatoes as currently the industry wastes about 50 tonnes per acre every year.
“Winning this prestigious award further highlights the level of industry support available for women making a difference in rural and regional Australia – no matter how remote you may be based,” Ms Watkins said.
Ms Kilby’s project was to improve the commercial success of start-ups by increasing the capability and confidence of regional business owners.
