And it’s wonderful to see the town looking so smart and sparkling ahead of the visit – the work that’s been going into, especially the areas around Victoria Park can clearly be seen.
And it’s not all we’ve seen and heard.
While out and about around town on Monday morning we overheard a conversation that went something like this …
“Are you going to the park on Wednesday, or do you have to work?
“I have Wednesday’s off, so i’m going along, and you?
“Not off, but my boss is letting me go out for a bit to see the royal couple.”

It seems to be a familiar type of conversation that’s been heard around town this week as people gear up for the highly anticipated visit from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on Wednesday.
Can you go along? That’s the big question at the moment, and we haven’t heard of anyone that’s being made to stay behind a desk so far (Unless they want to of course).
So much planing and preparation has been put into this visit in the past weeks since it was first announced the Duke and Duchess would be coming to Dubbo. And that includes planning from residents and visitors to work out how they can get to this possibly once-in-a-lifetime picnic.
Across the city over the past few weeks, and even more over the weekend shop fronts have been decked out with their best royal displays, with the royal couple in the front of everyone’s mind this week.
When the visit was first announced many said one of the reasons was because of the drought, with the hope the visit would inject a sparkle into the city’s economy.
And we think it has.
Accommodation is all but sold out. The Mayor of Dubbo is predicting thousands of Dubbo residents and visitors at the picnic in the park on Wednesday lunch.
Rainy day plans are being made with ponchos and raincoats brought out of the back of the cupboard just in case they are needed.
It’s nice to see this visit bringing so much to our city, and the Duke and Duchess haven’t even arrive yet.
