In a matter of just over two days the royal duo, one of the world’s most high-profile couples, is set to be in the city’s midst.
Dubbo is buzzing ahead of its hosting duties, with decorated business houses and royal-themed activities demonstrating the excitement.
The anticipation is shared by royal enthusiasts, friends Jennie Tylee-Porter and Brooke Barber of Dubbo.
The pair was surprised but thrilled when Kensington Palace confirmed the duke and duchess would travel to Dubbo.
Ms Tylee-Porter, who owns Parkside Dental Surgery, said the occasion’s significance was “huge”.
“I think it will be wonderful for the community, there’s so much excitement among the community,” she said.
“All the people I talk to at work are coming and everyone’s asking about it and saying what a great view we’ll have from work.”
Prince Harry and new wife Meghan’s itinerary includes the Picnic in the Park, which is open to the public.
I think it will be wonderful for the community, there’s so much excitement among the community.

The dental practice, which is located near Victoria Park where the event will be held, will be closed for the day.
Ms Tylee-Porter said they had taken the decision because they wanted staff and patients to enjoy the big event, and it would mean patients would not have to contend with road closures.
I mean, wouldn’t you rather see the royals than go to the dentist?

Some businesses in the city are planning “right royal morning teas” on Wednesday to mark the occasion, issuing invitations to the public on social media.
Last month when the visit was announced Ms Barber was among those surprised the duke and duchess would be heading to Dubbo.
“But then, I think it’s really great for the area and the region especially in the drought at the moment,” she said.
“I think it’s a really positive thing for the community.”
The “royal enthusiast” has to work on Wednesday, but she expects a large turnout to the Picnic in the Park.
“...I think it will be absolutely jam-packed,” she said.
