COURTNEY Hogan has been announced as a finalist for the Apprentice Employment Network NSW and ACT 2018, NSW and ACT Group Training Awards, Trainee of the Year Award, acknowledging her exceptional performance and achievements whilst completing her Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care Traineeship through Skillset, at Dubbo Regional Council’s Rainbow Cottage Childcare.

Courtney is one of a number of Skillset apprentices and trainees that have been recognised as finalists in four of the categories at the awards honouring the outstanding achievements of apprentices, trainees, host employers and group training organisations (GTOs) in the vocational education and training sector.
Courtney was recently awarded Skillset Workforce’s Joyce Hawkes Trainee of the Year Award and is also a finalist for Trainee of the Year at the Dubbo Chamber of Commerce Rhino Awards to be announced at the Gala Awards Night on Friday, October 19.
Courtney speaks highly of the support received from her colleagues at the Rainbow Cottage, the guidance in which Skillset has provided over the years, and her teachers at TAFE NSW.
“My teachers at TAFE have been extremely helpful in developing my skills base and industry knowledge which ensures that I am confident in my work at the Rainbow Cottage,” Courtney said.
“Completing this traineeship with Skillset has given me work experience, valuable skills and a foot in the door to pursue an industry in which I am passionate about. Everyone is there to help you succeed, and it has allowed me to spend greater focus on helping other work placement students with their training.”
Skillset is also a finalist for the Excellence in Group Training award. This nomination recognises Skillset’s ongoing focus for excellence in GTO service delivery which has been achieved through an extensive range of strategies which have positioned Skillset as the GTO of choice for the western region of NSW.
Skillset Chief Executive Officer, Craig Randazzo said they were committed to building skills, jobs and a sustainable future in our communities and it is gratifying to see the outstanding achievements of our apprentices, trainees and our organisation being acknowledged at the NSW and ACT Group Training Awards.

Skillset’s other finalists include Bathurst’s Erin Hunter for the Woman in Non-Traditional Trade Award, and Mathew Harvey from Orange for the Apprentice of the Year category after winning the NSW Training Awards – Western Apprentice of the Year award.
The annual presentation dinner will be held on Friday at Dockside Convention Centre Darling Harbour, where the winners of each category will be announced.
