Businesses and families have rallied around the blind Paralympian equestrian in her bid to support the establishment of a “wellness space” at the planned $35 million Western Cancer Centre at Dubbo Hospital.
Ms Lovett, a cancer survivor, has received donations including cash, water and hay.
A cocktail party hosted by the Castlereagh Hotel has boosted the fundraising by $20,000.
On the 15-day and 800-kilometre ride she will rest her head at night in a caravan loaned to her.
Ms Lovett promised to raise money for oncology services at Dubbo Hospital after her father died of cancer eight years ago.
“This is probably the last fundraiser ride but not the last fundraiser I will do,” she said.
“I will continue to find someway to help people because I think that is important.”
Ms Lovett’s previous nine rides have raised more than $3.1 million.
The wellness space will receive the proceeds from the sale of five of the six former racehorses that will carry Ms Lovett and her “sighted guides” during the ride taking in “back roads” and 15 communities.
They are Dubbo, Geurie, Wellington, Goolma, Mudgee, Gulgong, Dunedoo, Coolah, Binnaway, Mendooran, Gilgandra, Collie, Warren, Trangie and Narromine.
The Challenge--Ride Against Cancer, coordinated by Mudgee Lions Club and Narromine’s Rien Willis, will begin about 10am near Bunnings Dubbo and finish at Dubbo Turf Club on October 21.
