Dubbo motor racing enthusiasts Tiffany Ingham and Ben Napper were at a meet and greet held at Metalcorp and said they enjoyed interacting with the fast driving pair.
“It is pretty crazy to meet Mark and Cameron I would never have thought it could happen,” Ben Napper said.
“I only found out they were in Dubbo this morning when my Dad woke me up, I am pretty excited to be here and it was great to talk to them.
“I only just started to get into the V8 supercars with my Dad and I hope they have a win at Bathurst.”
Longtime motor racing fan and local Harness racing driver Tiffany Ingham said she was pleased the duo decided to come to Dubbo.
“It feels pretty good to meet Mark and Cameron, I have followed them for a fair few years,” she said.
“I’ve met them a couple of times but nothing like this because here they are really talkative and not in a rush to move on and I got to have a good long chat with them.
“We talked about how with motor racing you can put your foot on the brake and you’re all good but with harness racing, you have to try and pull the horse up, so it is a bit different but good to talk with them about our sports.
“I hope they have a win at Bathurst they deserve to have a win.”
Mark Winterbottom said Bathurst is a big week for his team and meeting fans in regional areas is a pleasurable thing to do in an otherwise hectic time of the season.
“We have come out here because it is kind of in the region of Bathurst, we are two and half hours away from Bathurst but we know a lot of Dubbo people will end up at the track, so its a cool way for us to start the week,” he said.
“It is good to come to towns that don’t have a race and we have great support from Dubbo people. A lot of people follow our sport and unfortunately we don’t race in every town in Australia, so we expect fans to go to races, but if we can come to them, it is a win-win.”
Cameron Waters said drivers should meet fans in regional areas.
“Our sponsors are all over Australia, so it makes sense to come to towns like Dubbo and the reception we get from the people is always good,” he said.
