The sport and the money will be heartily welcomed by all.
Dubbo have hosted a few events over the years that have drawn in thousands of people from across the state, and once again this weekend Dubbo has geared up on all fronts to make the 2018 NSW Aboriginal Rugby League Knockout memorable for all.
With a massive 137 squads in the competition, it’s going to be league fan’s dream weekend.
This weekend, for those that haven’t followed along, will also see the Roosters and Storm go head to head in an already controversial game.
But cheers for the players anyway – there is a lot of local support for both teams around Dubbo.
Back to the local games, this year’s knockout is hosted by 2017 winners Newcastle Yowies.
The Yowies have chosen to host the game in Dubbo this year, rather than hold it in Newcastle, showing the high caliber that the Dubbo and the facilities at Apex Oval are held too within the football community.
There will be thousands of people visiting Apex Oval over the weekend, while in other parts of the town, the economy will see an injection as players and spectators enjoy the food and attractions that Dubbo have to offer over the long weekend.
It’s not just about the football, it’s about the social side, the culture and connections that the players and spectators will make over the weekend.
The event will have another benefit … a national TV audience with games being broadcast across NITV and other media outlets. Hopefully, the coverage will help sell Dubbo as a venue.
This year is the first year the knockout has been held in Dubbo since 2015, and appearances by Australian representatives such as Greg Inglis and several other NRL stars are sure to draw the crowds.
Our journalists will be at the games over the weekend and we hope to see you there as well, supporting this great event and all Dubbo has to offer our visitors.
Now, lets finish the weekend and head into a a full-on, action packed football frenzy of a weekend – no matter if your team wins, loses or draws, we are sure it will be a great weekend of football … and connecting with new and old friends.
