The top awards for sportspeople of the year went to Year 7 golfer Ella Murray and Year 11 cricketer Brock Larance, while Year 11 hockey player Lilli-Rai Campbell was rewarded with the sports organiser’s award.
Ella Murray had a remarkable year in school sport in 2018 - an amazing achievement given that she is still a Year 7 student at Dubbo College.
College sports coordinator Craig May said Ella gained selection in the Western CHS, NSW CHS and NSW all schools golf teams in 2018.
“Ella’s NSW team won the Australian schools title at Coffs Harbour, with Ella also scoring a hole-in-one,” Mr May said.
“At a school level Ella was part of the open girls’ hockey team, which made the state finals, and the open girls’ tennis team, which made the regional finals.”
Brock Larance, 16, also had a stellar year in school sport in 2018.
Mr May said Brock was selected in the Australian under-16 all schools cricket team, which took on Pakistan schools in Victoria at the start of the year.
“Brock was also selected in the NSW CHS open boys’ cricket team and was also part of the CHS boys’ tennis team and was in the Astley Cup athletics team for the 1500m.”
Winner of the sports organiser’s award Lilli-Rai Campbell was recognised for her contribution to sport at Dubbo College.
“She is a role model for all sportspeople at Dubbo College,” Mr May said.
