It’s probably not where South Sydney fans would have liked to see Inglis play this weekend, not after the Rabbitohs suffered a heart-breaking preliminary final loss to the Roosters last weekend, but that defeat means the 2018 Koori Knockout has had a serious injection of star power.
It’s the first time Inglis - a player with 260 NRL games, 32 Origins and 36 Tests for Australia next to his name – has played in a Koori Knockout since 2003, when the powerful centre was a wiry 16-year-old winger.
“It means a lot to have him,” Wall Street Warriors club president Stephen Blair said.
“I think it’ll help to lift the boys. And he grew up on Wall Street, and in Bowraville, so he’s a local boy through and through.”
With fresh new maroon and white-striped jerseys, the team is raring to go after learning a few early lessons at the Lismore Knockout a fortnight ago.

“It wasn't to be but we gained a lot from that game,” Blair told the Nambucca Guardian.
“The Tingha team has played together for a number of years and we had a few personnel changes leading up to Lismore.
“But I think our line-up now for Dubbo is pretty good.
“If we can get through to day two, I think we stand a good chance of knocking anyone over,” Blair added.
Inglis will line-up for the Warriors at five-eighth – a position he played for Melbourne in 2007 when the Storm blew the Manly Sea Eagles off the park in the grand final and the now 31-year-old won the Clive Churchill medal for best on the ground.
The draw for this weekend’s knockout will take place at the Dubbo RSL club on Wednesday night. Dubbo last hosted the four-day rugby league event in 2015.
