The Warren local, who smashed two course records in winning both the five-kilometre Dingo Dash 10km Cheetah chase at last month’s Dubbo Stampede, continued her dominance on Sunday, finishing one minute and 50 seconds ahead of her closest competitor.
She finished in a time of 25 minutes and 11 seconds, just 11 minutes shy of her 10km time at Dubbo.
Campbell was competing in just her second ever Bathurst Edgell Jog, after her first in 2015.
This year she came back in better conditions and came first, ahead of Sylvania’s Belinda Martin in second and Sylvania’s Imogen Stewart in third.
Campbell’s was focused on coming out of the race nice and relaxed.
“It was good, just tried to go out all relaxed and worked my way up the hill and then came down nice and fast,” she said.
“I didn’t come last year, but the year before that when it was rainy.
“Couldn’t be anymore different, today being beautiful. It was perfect for running, with no wind as well.”
Many Bathurst residents spent the morning sitting out the front of their homes, on armchairs or on the veranda, cheering on the runners.
That was something Campbell really appreciated.
“There was so many people out the front of their houses cheering the runners on. That was really great to see,” she said.
As for many runners, Esrom Street proved to be the most challenging part of the race.
Last year’s first female across the line – Emily Watts – finished this year’s in fourth, in the women’s category.
She drastically improved her time, finishing in 30:07, compared to 31:58 in 2017.
