Since making the move to Bush’s Gunnedah kennels midway through last year Come On George has found top form.
After blitzing his Tamworth to Dubbo heat he jumped as a raging $1.20 favourite. He justified that status when winning by a dominant eight-and-three-quarter lengths.
The victory was his 11th win in the past 14 starts, an impressive record give he is not always the fastest starter.
“Bloody oath. We’re stoked with the win,” Bush said on Friday night.
“He peeled wide straight away, he’s sometimes tardy out of the boxes. That’s how he needs to win his races.
“He had a change of scenery and everything seems to have clicked. He’s getting a bit long in the tooth but he’s still going alright.”
Come On George didn’t get away well from box three on Friday night but it worked to his advantage as he was able to skirt around the leading pack as the field entered the back straight.
Once he got to the lead the only question was how much he would win by.
Tralee Destroyer ($6.90) and Foxy Tralee ($9.30) filled the placings.
