When 12-year-old Cooper Mitchell told his friends he was going to shave his head, some of them thought it was a stupid idea. But once they heard it was to help out school mate Molly Croft, there has been nothing but support for the plan.

Molly was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma last month. For Cooper, it was easy deciding what to do to help.
Cooper Mitchell has already kicked some major goals in the sport of steer riding, having been declared the Australian Bushmen’s and Campdraft Association’s National Aggregate Champion twice.
However, Geurie Rodeo Committee president Greg Frewin said it is was Cooper’s plan for the Geurie Rodeo on Saturday, September 29 that made him a real champion.

Cooper will be shaving his head before the main performance on Saturday evening.
“Mum asked me when I was going to get a haircut and I told her that I was going to keep growing it nice and long and then shave it to raise money to help Molly and her family while she is in hospital,” he said.
“Molly is really into sport and we go to the same school and I just wanted to do something to help,” he said.
While some of the kids at school were surprised by what Cooper was planning to do, he said he had also received a lot of support.
“Some of the kids said I was going to look stupid with a shaved head but when I told them why I was doing it, they changed their minds and said it was a really good idea,” he said.
Mr Frewin said he couldn’t say ‘yes’ fast enough when he heard about Cooper’s plan.
“We are really proud of what Cooper is trying to achieve. Rodeo is all about community and being there for each other through good and bad times so it’s great to see this kind of spirit shine through in our junior competitors,” he said.
“We will be passing around a hat while Cooper shaves his head in front of the crowd just before the main performance on Saturday evening.”
Donation tins will be around the venue on the day and the committee would also be making a donation, Mr Frewin said.
The rodeo will be at the Geurie Showground, starting at 10am. The main performance will be at 6pm.
“If you’ve never been to a rodeo, this is a perfect time to come along and have a great family day out and support a young man with a worthy cause,” Mr Frewin said.
Donations for Cooper’s ‘Shave for Molly’ can also be made at Morrison’s Family Eyecare Centre on Wingewarra Street or at St Mary’s Primary School.
