The evening follows an extended period for nominations after businesses requested extra time due to the end of financial year and a number of local events.
At the time of the extension Dubbo Chamber of Commerce president Matt Wright said once again the people’s choice categories had been enormous.
There are four finalists in the ‘Dubbo’s Favourite Tradie’ category and we hope to bring you a profile on them each week in the lead up to the Awards.
First we speak with Che Shaw from Sallustio Tile and Rendering.
MS: Can you tell me a bit about yourself. Have you always lived in Dubbo?
CS: I’m a Dubbo boy but left at the age of 18 to study teaching, I then came back and worked for 12 months tiling with Pete and Joe Sallustio to save enough cash to travel abroad for three years in the United Kingdom and Indonesia.
I returned in 2013 to Dubbo and got a call off the boys to come back and work with them and haven’t left ever since.
MS: What is your trade and how you got into that career?
CS: I’m a tiler and renderer by trade, I trained with Pete at the gym and he was looking for a sidekick so I got a start.
MS: How did it feel to be nominated for ‘Dubbo's Favourite Tradie’ in this year's Rhino Awards?
CS: Nervous for the headache after the main night brings in the morning.
MS: What would it mean to you if you won "Dubbo's Favourite Tradie?
CS: Bragging rights.
