They joined 1000 NSW Police officers and nation-wide officers from across the country for the ninth wall to Wall: Ride for Remembrance.
NSW Police Commissioner Mick Fuller said “riding for our fallen is way to pay tribute to the mates we have lost.”
“The NSW Police Force family bond is the strongest when we rally together to support one another,” he said.
Orana Mid-Western Police Disctrict Commander Superintendent Peter McKenna said Assistant Commissioner Geoff McKechnie led the ride for the Western Region.
“We travelled to Batemans Bay on the first night and went to Canberra on the following day where we took part of ceremony.
“It was really really good to see so many of our comrades from around Australia.
The ride attracts over 3000 riders these days, it’s quite a sombre event when we go there to remember our colleagues who have gone before us.”
Supt McKenna said it was great to raise money for the Police Legacy, “that’s what it’s all about, looking after families of police officers who are tragically killed, or don’t make it home.”
“It was unfortunate that one of our colleagues from Melbourne lost his life while riding there and that really touched us and brought home to us how precious how life is as a police officer.
“We understand its one of those jobs that has with it have an element of danger every day.”
