Outback Opal Hunters, featuring Lightning Ridge, renewed for second season

Lightning Ridge will continue to be featured on television with Outback Opal Hunters announced for a second season.

The show follows opal miners in Lightning Ridge, Opalton and Coober Pedy. It aims to bring people to the forefront of the mining industry to show what has people hooked on the hunt for the Queen of Gems.

Season Two will see the return of The Opal Queen Kelly Tisher, as well as brothers Peter and Mick Cooke.

Outback Opal Hunters has broadcast Lightning Ridge to the world. It has aired in more than 20 countries and territories, including the United Kingdom and Germany.

Discovery Channel’s vice president factual and sports products Jonathan Rudd said there was a huge appetite for these stories and characters, not just in Australia but internationally.
