Last week the driver and passenger of the silver Nissan Pulsar appeared before Judge Rodney Madgwick in Orange District Court.
Noel Shane Riley, 39, was given a three-year jail sentence with a two-year non-parole period for supplying a prohibited drug, and could be eligible for parole on February 29, 2020.
A co-offender, Adrian Donald Singh – the driver of the Pulsar – was also due to be sentenced, but his matter was adjourned until November.
MAP: Where the car was pulled over …
At 1.35am on September 19, 2017, the pair were in the car which was travelling at speeds of between 40km/h and 75km/h near the intersection of the Mitchell Highway and Northern Distributor Road when police stopped it so they could breath test Singh.
Believing the car may have contained drugs they searched it, and found a bag of resealable plastic bags in the passenger’s foot-well.
According to agreed facts presented to the court, the men had traveled from Dubbo to Sydney and were returning to Dubbo when they were stopped by police and the drugs were found.
They arrived in Sydney about 6pm on September 18 where Riley entered a pub alone and purchased a “quantity of methamphetamine”.
He returned to the car and they stopped at a service station before beginning their journey back towards Dubbo via the Bells Line of Road, Great Western Highway and the Mitchell Highway, where they were stopped.
