The appeal follows an incident on July 14 at a Warrumbunges Way property in Binnaway where three men were hunting on private land without permission.

On that day a 71-year-old woman and her grandchildren were feeding goats on their property when a mob of the animals ran up the hill towards them.

“This was immediately followed by a volley of gunshots,” NSW Police State Rural Crime Co-ordinator Detective Inspector Cameron Whiteside said.

“The victim located three men who were trespassing on the victim’s property and approached them.”

One of these men, a 52-year-old from Condell Park in Sydney, was subsequently arrested and charged with hunting on private land without permission.

Detective Inspector Whiteside said a number of images were taken of those present and the matter was reported to police.

“We would now like to speak to the men in the images who may be able to assist us with our investigation,” he said.

Detective Inspector Whiteside has called on members of hunting clubs to assist in the investigation.

“We are particularly interested in recognised and authorised hunting clubs that may have information about those out there that are giving them and their fellow hunters a bad name,” he said.
