Brad ‘Freddy’ Fittler, Danny Buderus and a host of other stars departed Sydney for Tamworth on Wednesday, where they showed off the shield Fittler’s young Blues side reclaimed earlier this year.
Then they will head to Coonamble where they’ll run “a massive clinic for the kids”, and hope to take people’s minds off the drought.
“Just bringing all the kids in from the bush and just kick a footy around,” Fittler told nswrl.com.au.
“And then just talk to them, have a yarn about the things they need, hopefully we can make aware some of the things they need, or if they’re getting that money that everyone is promising.
“So basically have a chat and give them a voice to air their concerns.”
More than $66,000 had been raised before the Hogs left Sydney on Wednesday morning.
“We’re very fortunate to have those partners and we just want to go out there and make sure that money goes to where it’s really needed,” Josh Perry said.
The clinic will be held at Coonamble Sports Ground from 4pm until 6pm.
