This the third time the class has held a reunion, but one of the organisers Louise Heaslip said there would be faces at the event she hadn’t seen for 30 years.

“There’s about 12 people who we’ve never been able to find. We don’t know what they’re doing or where they are but there are two we found on Facebook for the first time this year,” Ms Heaslip said.

“One fellow, we had his details but couldn’t contact him and he’s coming to this one. I don’t think any of us have see him for 30 years so that’s a bit exciting. There are going to be a few I haven’t seen in a long time.”

While there are some of the class scattered across the globe from Columbia to one woman who just moved back from Singapore, Ms Heaslip said there was also a large group who had remained in Dubbo.

“There are about 25 of us who go to dinner once or twice a year. We go to dinner at the Old Bank or somewhere like that and that’s actually something we started a few years ago,” Ms Heaslip said.

Despite having such a variety of personalities the classmates have always been close, she said.

“I think we must have been close because you hear of other years who aren’t interested in having reunions. Yes, there were particular groups and cliques but we just all seem to come together and accept each other. And I guess the people who don’t think that don’t come along,” she said.

Ms Heaslip said she had used everything from befriending people’s wives on Facebook to cold calling names in the phone book to try and track down all the original classmates.

She said one of her favourite parts was getting in contact with people and hearing what they had been doing since she last saw them.

The St John’s class of ‘88 reunion will be held at the Milestone on Saturday, September 29.
