The “marvellous” support the little girl received at her United Kingdom home left an impression on her Australian family.
Mr Richards, who moved to Dubbo recently from the Central Coast after retiring, put up his hand when Cancer Council NSW called for volunteers for its new Transport to Treatment.
The service provides transport patients living with two hours of Dubbo to treatment.
“It was good for me to meet people and give back to the community,” Mr Richards said.
On the eve of Friday’s Daffodil Day, the volunteer driver was behind the wheel to be there for someone in their time of need.
He urged everyone to throw their support behind the annual Cancer Council fundraiser.
