Bathurst Bushrangers Outlaws are out of second chances to make this year’s AFL Central West finals series heading into their penultimate round match against Dubbo Demons.
Demons currently holds the fourth place on the ladder which the Outlaws desire but if the Bushrangers men are to claim that spot they need to snap a five-game losing streak.
Outlaws are hoping to welcome back several key team members for the match at George Park 2.
One of those players is captain Tim Hunter, who is hopeful his team can bounce back from a 70-point trouncing at the hands of Parkes Panthers.
“You’d like to be a couple of games clear and be guaranteed that finals spot at this time of year but you’ve got to look for that silver lining. Our destiny is in our own hands,” he said.
“We have to play well do get ourselves in finals and hopefully the boys get up for it. It’s been a close year though and you can look at that as a big positive for the competition, that it’s come down to these last couple of rounds for a spot.”
The head-to-head with Outlaws and Demons is one apiece this season – the victory going to the home team on each occasion.
Demons will be hungry to achieve the feat of beating both Bushrangers teams in back-to-back rounds, having overcome Rebels by a point last Saturday.
“We should hopefully have a few people back,” Hunter said.

“It’s just been one of those seasons for us unfortunately where we’ve had people go down with season ending injuries, but that’s not excuse because we believe our best footy at the moment is still good enough.
“We’ll get Peter Grundy and a couple of others back, hopefully myself, but we’ve said all along that we back the boys that we put out there. Hopefully we can get the job done.”
