A display of colourful kites has taken over the Macquarie Street Rotunda ahead of Kites for Kids this weekend.

Gowrie NSW Dubbo early education and care centre manager Gemma Lavelle said the kites on display were made and decorate by early education centres around Dubbo and were ready to be flown on the weekend.

“The display will be [at the Rotunda] for a few days, so people can come down and have a look at the kids work, and then come out to Jubilee Oval at 11am on Sunday.”

Organised to kick-start early intervention awareness week, the event will be held from 11am at Jubilee Oval.

Children will be able to purchase a kite kit and decorations for $2. A jumping castle and petting zoo will also keep the children entertained while a coffee van will be there for the parents.

Kites for Kids highlights the importance of identifying and helping young children with any sort of developmental problem to access services as soon as possible. The event also showcases the services available locally to help children and their families.
