Forbes and Wellington are the places to be next weekend for the start of the Group 11 finals.
Forbes’ Spooner Oval will host four cracking elimination semi-finals on Saturday before Kennard Park and the qualifying semis take centre stage on Sunday.
The Magpies head into Saturday’s main do-or-die clash with the Macquarie Raiders full of confidence after trouncing Parkes in the final round of the regular season.
The final round was far different for the Raiders, beaten by a Cowboys side which will take on Parkes in Sunday’s qualifying game.
The winner of that game will advance to the major semi-final and a date with minor premiers Dubbo CYMS, a side which will enjoy a weekend off in the first round of finals.
“Forbes has come out of the woodwork,” Group 11 secretary Paul Loxley said.
“But CYMS deserves its favouritism, they’ve been the standout team all year but (Forbes captain) Jake Grace won a title in 2016 and it looks like he wants another one.
“But Wellington played well on Sunday and with Justin Toomey-White they like their chances.
“Anything can happen in finals and it’s all exciting now.”
Dubbo CYMS also collected the reserve grade minor premiership while Forbes finished top in the under 18s and the Parkes Spacecats were the league tag minor premiers.
Next week in reserve grade, Parkes and Forbes play the elimination game while Macquarie and Wellington meets on Sunday.
The 18s sees rivals CYMS and Macquarie face-off in Forbes while Wellington hosts Parkes on Sunday.
In the league tag, one of Forbes or Macquarie will be eliminated on Saturday while CYMS and Westside do battle on Sunday.
However, venues and fixtures will be finalised and confirmed at a Group 11 board meeting on Monday evening.
