More than 400 pre-schoolers and students from early education centres converged on Victoria Park on Thursday to take part in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day.

Running for approximately five years, the annual day aims to help promote culture, learning and acceptance in both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal children.
There were 15 early childhood services and four local pre-schools at the event, which is hosted by Live Better.

There was a great range of entertainment and learning activities throughout the day.
As well as listening to dreamtime stories, children saw an Aboriginal performance from the Uniting dancers.
Dubbo local Kamie Trindall also sung a traditional Aboriginal lullaby called ‘inanay’.
Live Better’s Jenna Glover said it was a great turnout.
“It’s important for the young children, both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal, to learn about culture..it promotes acceptance,” she said.
