A group of adventurous Dubbo angels will "splash a bit of pink in the outback" and raise awareness that early detection of breast cancer saves lives when they join the 2018 Destination Outback Event.

The Pink Angels are a Dubbo breast cancer charity which provides care, help and support to patients in Dubbo, Narromine, Trangie, Nyngan, Cobar, Bourke, Brewarrina, Lightning Ridge, Walgett, Coonamble, Coonabarabran, Gilgandra and Wellington.
The angels have members Sue Gavenlock, Anne Gemmell and Donna Temesvary donning the pink and putting a special vehicle into four-wheel drive this year.
Sue Gavenlock said the “angels” are looking forward to the outback adventure.
“Golden West Holden, who generously provided us with a vehicle in 2012 and 2014, will do so again this year, we can’t wait to get going, Danny Russell and Michael Adams from Golden West Holden are fantastic supporters of our charity,” she said.
“Through our participation in Destination Outback, Pink Angels has forged a strong bond with South Dubbo Rotary Club. We have continually received tremendous support and donations from South Dubbo Rotary which ultimately helps us to assist our breast cancer patients.
“We will be driving from Collie, onto Cunnamulla, through Quilpie Qld, then to Yaraka, Longreach and Tambo. Then we go along the western side of Canarvon Gorge into Tooloombilla, through St George to Nindygully then go back down to Armatree for the final night on August 17, it should be a big adventure.”

Mrs Gavenlock said the trip is important because it allows the Pink Angels to raise funds but also cement relationships with other charity groups.
“We provide accommodation, flights, meals, medical supplies and prosthetic’s for patients undergoing treatment, critical practical things, and we have donated vital medical equipment to hospitals which ultimately help breast cancer patients,” she said.
“We are very humbled and grateful for the support we receive from Golden West Holden and South Dubbo Rotary.”
South Dubbo Rotary president and Golden West Holden owner Michael Adams said the Pink Angels are a great charity to get behind.
“They do a wonderful job in the community, one that needs to be done and one that needs support,” he said.
“I feel as a corporate citizen of Dubbo that I have a responsibility to help out where I can. I have been touched within my own family by breast cancer, so I understand the impact it has on people and their lives.”
