$9 deliveries for Dubbo shoppers as IKEA restructures its business

Dubbo IKEA addicts are ecstatic when the retail giant announced a strategy that will see it move away from its mega stores and introduce more smaller stores closer to its customers.

As part of the strategy it will also boost its online sales network with deliveries to regional areas.

Online shoppers in Bathurst, Dubbo, Orange and Parkes will be able to purchase parcel-sized IKEA goods online and have them delivered to their homes for $9.

But Orange shoppers will be even bigger winners, with access to large items - including sofas and kitchens - with delivery priced from $69.

IKEA Australia multichannel manager Michael Donath said the company also plans to expand the delivery of larger items in the future to the wider Central West.

“We will make IKEA accessible to more people through our parcel service for Central West NSW,” Mr Donath said.

“We’re on our way to make our whole range available, including larger items, but right now we are excited about bringing some IKEA products to the area.

“From today, customers in the Central-West will be able to shop more than 6000 products. There are plenty of quality and affordable items to choose from including, cookware, crockery, glasses, cushions, curtains, bed textiles and rugs, as well as home organisation, lighting and decorative accessories.

The new IKEA online parcel service follows on from the launch of online shopping for Sydney in November last year.

The cost for the parcel service, small IKEA items, is $9.

The parcel service is for products that fit the criteria of 14kg with a maximum size of 1.2m x 80cm x 60cm.
