For Dubbo duo Tom Coady and Anthony Atlee, they’ll get the honour while they’re still teenagers.

Coady and Atlee starred in their respective age divisions at last month’s 2018 Indoor Cricket National Championships and while neither of their NSW Country Cyclones sides featured in the grand finals, the individual efforts were rewarded with selection in Australian sides.

The pair will now take part in the 2018 Junior World Series of Indoor Cricket in New Zealand later this year.

Coady will be part of the 15 years and under side while Atlee will feature in the 13 and under team.

Both are accomplished outdoor players as well, but there’s something special about the indoor version of the game.

“You get the adrenaline pumping a bit more and it’s fast,” Coady said

“You need the fact reaction time and there’s more excitement going on.”

Atlee also used the word “fast” when describing the game and anyone who has played indoor cricket before would agree.

The speed at the Junior World Series is expected to be another level all together but after being one of the standouts at the national titles, Atlee is looking forward to the challenge.

“I was feeling pretty good. I was very happy with how I played,” he said of the titles at Toowoomba.

“I had a rough feeling I could (make the national side), being part of the top age but I was very happy and proud when I found out.”

Despite his tender age, Atlee is something of an indoor veteran and has played at the Australian Championships five times already.

But this marks his first selection in the national side, and the same goes for Coady.

“It’s very exciting,” Coady said, admitting he didn’t expect to be chosen.

“Not really, me being bottom age (in the 15s) I didn’t think I had much of a chance.”

Four Australian junior sides will compete at the world series, along with sides from South Africa, England, Sri Lanka, and more.

The tournament starts on September 30 at Christchurch.
