So often country trainers taking part in a Highway event at one of the major metropolitan tracks opt to book the service of a big name jockey, someone all too used to riding the track.

However, a handful stick with their bush hoops and Wellington trainer Jim McMillan is one of those people.
McMillan will have Daniel Pitomac, also of Wellington, ride Harry New Shoes in Saturday’s $60,000 TAB Highway Handicap at Royal Randwick.
Pitomac has only raced at metropolitan four times in the past and has never placed, and while Harry New Shoes was a $16 outsider in Friday’s market, he does head to town in form.
The McMillan-trained has scored two wins and two seconds in four starts this preparation and is in career best form leading in to the Highway event.
The ride will be Pitomac’s lone one for the day at Randwick.
The Highway is second up on Saturday and jumps at 12.30pm.
