In a huge coup for the Roos, former Super Rugby title winner and Wallaby Robinson returned home last year to take on a director of rugby role with the club.
He worked on implementing a new style and while the first grade side missed finals for the first time since 2011, there has been praise from players and coaches alike for the work Robinson has done.

Robinson, as always, was an animated figure on the sideline at No. 1 Oval on Saturday and he said the fact the minor premiership winning Orange Emus were dominated at times by a Roos side which won’t feature in the post-season is proof of the new-look competition’s strength.
Central West Rugby Union was revamped for this year, with just six club taking part in the Blowes Clothing Cup while another six contested the second tier, New Holland Agriculture Cup.
“That’s how good this competition is though, it’s great to be a part of and every week is a grind,” Robinson said after seeing the Roos stick it to Emus.
The former Queensland Reds star added the chance to be a part of a bush footy club week in, week out was also something he loved.
“I’ve enjoyed being back around the boys and having that camaraderie, which is important,” he said.
While there was praise, the overwhelming emotion on Saturday was disappointment after a season which promised so much.
The arrival of Robinson and marquee recruit Mark Baldwin, a former Shute Shield captain at Randwick and NSW Country Eagles player, created had plenty of hype and had some tipping the Roos for a title charge.
But Baldwin, incredibly, was one of more than five players whose season was ended by an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) ligament injury, while many others players also missed games for various reasons throughout the year.
That had a huge effect on the side’s cohesion from week-to-week, and Robinson said that was a major reason why his side won’t feature again this year.
“This is a tight competition and I’m not sure how many points we’ve missed (finals) by but in a couple of games we allowed teams back in,” he said.
