This time, it’s all about the Dubbo Aquatic Leisure Centre with four options for an indoor pool almost ready to be presented to the public as part of the draft master plan for the site.
And there are a couple of exciting, and big things included.
Developed as a plan for framework for future improvements at the pool, it’s great those that use it will be able to really have their say and make sure things are as the majority wants them.
So, onto those big things – and it’s really just all about an indoor pool.
With the RSL indoor pool currently out of action due to structural issues with the roof, it would be great to have another option for the community.
The council have never really explored this opportunity because they didn’t want to be seen to be going into competition with the RSL, however, they are now looking at what they can do differently to make the complex useful to the community all year around.
One of the options council is looking at is the construction of a new 25 metre pool with a spa. Not only would it be good when the weather is cold, like now, but it would be a great options for those who need hydrotherapy.
It’s not just the indoor pool that’s being talked about either – though it seems to be one of the hottest topics at the moment. More car parking spaces, an expansion of the kiosk, relocation of the outdoor gym equipment and pop-up eateries are also on the agenda.
It all depends on what the community asks for.
Collaboration on this project with all parties will be the major benefit to the community.
The installation of the new splash pad shows us that collaboration leads to great things.
The council responded to calls from the community to add more accessible and fun play elements to the centre.
The construction is going great, with the current work about 90 per cent complete and the water play elements scheduled to arrive in early September.
With all these changes at the pool taking place we’re really looking forward to summer (and winter in the future as well).
