The approach taken by St Johns College perfectly reflects the theme for the 2018 Education Week which is “Today’s schools – creating tomorrow’s world”. Secretary of the Department of Education, Mark Scott, said the theme for this year’s Education Week focused on the future. “Our schools are very future-focused, preparing and equipping young people with the skills, the knowledge and the capabilities they need to lead and flourish in tomorrow’s world,” he said.
St Johns College will also be holding NAIDOC celebrations next week, with this year’s theme “Because of her we can”. This theme encapsulates the notion of the strong, Indigenous women throughout history, and further highlights the continual work St Johns has done embedding Indigenous culture into an array of curriculum ideas.
