Around 20 RFS firefighters were involved in fighting the fire, with assistance from personnel from Fire and Rescue NSW, Cabonne Council, NSW Police and Essential Energy.
On Monday they reported “on arrival the brigades found the structure to be engulfed in flames” and, as such, “the old building could not be saved”.
Canobolas Zone crews remained on the scene until about 7am, when they were relieved by firefighters from the Gamboola brigade.
The cause of the fire is not yet known, and police and RFS investigators are on the scene.
