After the amalgamation of Dubbo and Wellington councils, Dubbo Regional Council was given $1 million to split across three years for local, non-for-profit groups.
On Monday night, $317,500 was awarded for the final round of the Community Grant Program.
Funding has been awarded to:
- 1st Dubbo Scout Group – $12,473 for the Welchman Street Hall storage shed.
- Brotherhood of the Good Shepherd Council – $8248 for the preservation of the Brotherhood of the Good Shepherd historical documentation.
- Central West Barrel Horse Club – $14,784 for the Geurie Rodeo area upgrade.
- Dubbo Aero Club – $1000 to repaint the building at the Dubbo City Regional Airport.
- Dubbo Cycle Club – $15,000 for timing equipment for the Dubbo Cycle Club road racing program.
- Dubbo Dirt Bike Club – $6846 for a new refrigerator and air conditioner at the Morris Park dirt bike facility.
- Dubbo Golf Club – $14,389 for the Dubbo Gold Club Caters kitchen upgrade.
- Dubbo Hockey Association Inc – $4802 for the installation of the a PA system and covered barbecue area at Pioneer Park.
- Dubbo Horse and Pony Club – $6999 to buy a zero turn mower.
- Dubbo Netball Association – $8961 for new tents and training equipment at the Nita McGrath netball courts.
- Dubbo Triathlon Club – $11,134 to upgrade signage and for training.
- Mumbil District Progress Association – $4800 for an air conditioner at the Mumbil Community Hall.
- OEC Community Garden (Auspiced by Orana Education and Training Co-operative) – $800 for a barbecue.
- Royal Flying Doctor Service South Eastern Section – $37,397 for the Ground Support Equipment Project.
- Stuart Town Advancement Association – $50,000 for a walking trail and beautification of the town.
- Talbragar Country Women’s Association – $5387 for an upgrade of the CWA hall, including decking, hand railing and air conditioner cage and flooring.
- Wellington and District Cricket Association – $15,000 for an upgrade of the Rygate Park cricket nets.
- Wellington Bowling Club – $41,450 for an outdoor viewing and entertainment deck.
- Wellington Connect Inc. (Wellington Men’s Shed) – $23,705 for a concrete driveway and storm water disposal.
- Wellington Information and Neighbourhood Services Inc. – $17,125 for landscaping around the centre.
- Wellington Senior Citizens Club – $7600 for a new dishwasher at the Wellington Senior Citizen’s Club.
- Wellington Warriors Football Club – $5200 to update equipment.
- Wongarbon Country Women’s Association – $4400 for landscaping.
There were 78 funding applications received from community groups. The Grants Assessment Panel, comprised of mayor Ben Shields, Member for Dubbo Troy Grant, Luka Group probity advisor Mick McKenna, NSW Department of Premier and Cabinet Ashley Albury and Darren Borger, who was assisting Mr Grant.
