For nearly each week in the past month a “record price” war has flourished between Dubbo, Forbes, Wagga Wagga and Griffith saleyards topping each other in record setting.
Dubbo sets it on Monday, and each centre knocks it off at sales on the days in the week following. However, Dubbo has set its selling centre record for each of the past four weeks.
But it’s Dubbo’s claim today when Thomas Foods paid the national record price at $286.20 a head for 211 second-cross Poll Dorset sired heavy-weight lambs bred and offered for Adam and Natasha Whillock, “Haddington”, Wellington.
They were sold by Plasto and Company, Wellington, agents Aaron O’Leary and Ross Plasto.
The record beats $284/head set at Griffith on July 20.
