Ten Fire & Rescue NSW and Rural Fire Service members are taking part in the 2018 Firefighters Climb for Motor Neurone Disease challenge. In October they’ll climb the Sydney Eye Tower dressed in 20 kilograms firefighting gear.
Each dollar raised for the cause will go to Macquarie University, which has Australia’s largest MND research facility.
On Saturday, the Dubbo team held a fundraising barbecue at Aldi Supermarket. The ‘What Were We Thinking’ team hopes to raise $15,000.
The team will hold another fundraising barbecue at Aldi on September 8. One will also be held at Tradelink on July 28. Donation buckets have also been left at businesses around the city.
Members of the public can follow along with the team’s preparations at the ‘Dubbo Fireys Climb for MND – What were we thinking’ page on Facebook.
