May Tell has an overall record of a win in every fourth start but things have been lean in recent times and she hasn’t scored a win since February 11.
On Friday night she will contest what shapes as the best event on the card at Dubbo, the Coolabah Goat Co Stakes (318m).
There is a huge amount of talent in the race and May Tell and her other competitors will have to get past an imposing inside pair of Queen Taro and Tony Taro.
The Taro duo, both trained by Daniel Foley, were the two favourites in the market on Thursday.
Tony Taro blitzed the field when winning at Bathurst on Monday and that field was arguably stronger than the one he will meet at Dubbo.
He has three wins in his past five starts while Queen Taro has two wins in her past four races and has the benefit of box one.
Foley bookends the race, with Wolf Taro is third hope from box eight.
He is also a chance having run second at Dubbo last start.
Another contender in the event is the ever-reliable Zeb’s Magic from the Paul and Pamela Braddon kennels at Cowra.
Racing starts 7.05pm.
