And while ending a finals drought is the goal for the Cowboys in 2018, there’s much more to the season for leading back-rower, Justin Toomey-White.
After a stint in Sydney playing with the Wyong Roos, Toomey-White returned home this year and has played a major role in the Cowboys’ resurgence.
“I love it. It’s good being back in this competition and it’s a breath of fresh air,” Toomey-White said after last weekend’s win over Westside.
“There’s a good competition and you don’t what each side will bring each week but being back in the maroon and white is really good.
“It’s good being back home with family and this Wellington side is family and we’re building.
“We’re working for something and it’s not just for this year, it’s for the years ahead and beyond that.”
Action at Kennard Park on Sunday starts with league tag at 11am.
