The 2018 National Orpington Show has attracted a total of 421 entries from across five states and territories to the Dubbo Showground.
The bulk of the 28 exhibitors come from Queensland, NSW, ACT and Victoria, but four birds are coming across from Western Australia, Orpington Club of Australia secretary Martin Doulton reported.
Among the entries are 231 large birds and 190 of the smaller-sized bantams.
The show was previously held at Dubbo in 2015, with entries almost doubling this year.
Mr Doulton said they were happy to be at Dubbo.
“It’s the perfect place, the shed is fantastic, the hospitality is amazing, it’s halfway between Queensland and Victoria and we’re welcomed by the local club and community,” he said.
Mr Doulton encouraged members of the general public to attend the show on Saturday, or auction on Sunday.
“If you want to come along and see a great display of orpingtons, a breed kept by the British royal family and understood to be the Queen Mother’s favourite bird, [now is your chance],” he said.
