Dubbo residents will transition from two bins to three bins with Wellington and surrounding village residents transitioning from one bin to three bins.
What if people don’t have their bins yet?
In the event people have not received their bins they can put their old waste bin out and it will be collected. If they have their new bins they MUST be used.
When will my bins be collected?
Your red bin of general waste and organics bin will be collected weekly while recycling will be fortnightly.
What if I have rubbish in my old bin?
You can out your old bin for this week only and then start using your new bins.
What goes in each bin?
Bin Liners – What’s important to know?
The bin liners that have been supplied to the residents are the only bags to be used. These are special bags that will be process through the Organic Plant and turned into compost. Residents can also use newspaper in their caddies or they can use their caddies with nothing in them, just simply tip it in the green bin. You can’t use the supermarket bio degradable bags because these simply break into little bits, they aren’t compostable like the provided bags.
My bin liners won't open?
Simply rub your fingers together at the top of the bag just like you would when you are in the fruit and vegetable section at the supermarket.
What do I do when my bin liners run out?
When you run out of the bags, you can contact Customer Service on 6801 4000 and they will be able to provide new rolls. Each roll has 150 bags so you shouldn't order too many.
What happens to the Organics when they are collected?
The Green waste is going to be transferred to our new Organics processing facility that has been built in Dubbo and it will be turned into compost that will be used on our parks and gardens and also available to purchase by residents.
What can we put in our kitchen caddy and green bin?
Food and Organic matter, newspaper, tissues etc
Will I have a two-bin or three-bin service?
An interactive map showing which service area you are located in can be accessed here.
How much will the new service cost?
The proposed cost for the two bin service is $308 and for the three bin service the cost would be $378, with the prices for these services being harmonised across the Local Government Area.
A pensioner rebate of $50 per annum will be offered to eligible pensioner households receiving a three bin service
Currently Dubbo’s two bin service has a cost of $294.96 and Wellington’s single bin service is $347.
What do I do with my old bin?
Residents will have the choice of what they do with the wheelie bin that they currently own. They can choose to keep it and use it for another purpose. Or they can voluntarily surrender it to council. If voluntarily surrendered, the bins will be collected from your residence
Dubbo Regional Council urges all residents to read the accompanying information package thoroughly and if you still have any questions please go to www.dubbo.nsw.gov.au/bins or call Dubbo Regional Council Customer Service Team on 6801 4000.
