Taronga Zoo's giraffes are to temporarily lose their million-dollar harbour views as workers build two new enclosures costing $50 million.

The space the giraffes have occupied for more than 90 years is being transformed into two new precincts - an African Savannah and Congo Forest.
During the construction phase, the giraffes will live in a temporary area minus the water views.
But by late 2019, the zoo's giraffes should be able to return to the revamped savannah precinct, where they'll share the space with zebras and fennec foxes.
There'll also be a lion breeding facility and meerkat encounter space.
Taronga's gorilla family will move into the Congo Forest in 2023 with their lush home featuring streams and waterfalls, NSW Environment Minister Gabrielle Upton said on Monday.
"When the Giraffes return in late 2019 they, and the other savannah species, will enjoy Sydney Harbour views from their respective habitats," Ms Upton said in a statement.
"It's also a boom for photographers who will get stunning shots of not only giraffes against the Sydney Harbour backdrop but also a pride of lions."
