A police officer has been charged over an alleged on-duty assault and malicious damage.

On Saturday, December 30, the officer was involved in the arrest of 20-year-old woman in the Central West and it’s alleged she was assaulted and received facial injuries by the officer during the arrest.
It is also alleged that during the arrest the officer damaged a piece of jewellery belonging to the woman.
Following an internal investigation, about 3.30pm on Thursday, June 14, the officer, a 33-year-old senior constable, now attached to the Northern Region, was served with a court attendance notice for the offences of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, common assault, and malicious damage.
He is expected to appear before Orange Local Court on July 30.
The officer’s employment is under review.
