In its first full month of operating the trial in April, the coach between Tamworth and Dubbo on Mondays and Fridays averaged 30 customers using the service per day.
NSW TrainLink is encouraging the travelling public to get on board the six-month trial that also opens up connections to western NSW, and the XPT service through to Sydney.
The organisation is also running a trial of extra NSW TrainLink coach services that allow customers to complete a round trip between Bourke, Brewarrina and Dubbo in a single day.
It started on May 16 after consultation with local communities.
NSW TrainLink is encouraged by the feedback from customers on the convenience of the new coach trials, a spokesperson says.
“The coach trial between Dubbo and Tamworth has made a promising start, with very good patronage and an enthusiastic response from customers,” the spokesperson said.
“Apart from our Dubbo customers, we are keen to remind communities in the west and central west that they can save time travelling to the north west by connecting from our other Dubbo train and coach services to the direct coach to Tamworth.”
The trial is designed to give more flexibility.
“The new day return services between Bourke, Brewarrina and Dubbo have only been operating for a few weeks, but customers have been very pleased to be able to the trip to Dubbo and back in one day,” the spokesperson said.
“We encourage the community to get on board and help make the services a success so they can be operated permanently.
“NSW TrainLink is keen to ensure these services can be used by as many people as possible and we will be looking at feedback from the community to see if we can fine tune the trials.”
