A silver medal a fitting reward for an incredible run at Narellan, but the cherry on top was to come after that.

The Dubbo-based CYMS midfielder was named as one of four Orange players to represent NSW at the Country Championships at Berri, South Australia, in August.

Hogan is joined by CYMS teammates Madie Smith and Rach Hoey, the former an incumbent NSW Country star, while Confederates youngster Millah Allcorn is the bolter in the Blues’ 18-strong squad dominated by Central West players, nine in fact.

As strong as Orange’s run at the state champs was, the 19-year-old was stunned to be named in the country squad.

“I was very anxious ... I was shocked when I saw my name on the list on Thursday,” Hogan said.

“I played the country champs last year in Townsville and enjoyed that experience.”

Hogan said she’s excited about representing NSW for a second time and says the step-up in competition is immense, but enjoyable.

“It’s a pretty big step up, I love the experience and to play in state colours is an honour,” she added.

With no more Blue Jays in the women’s Premier League Hockey competition, Hogan has been a welcome addition in CYMS’ re-introduction to the big time.

The green and golds sit on top of the 2018 women’s PLH ladder and on Saturday Hogan proved a vital cog in a 5-1 demolition of Souths.

Her connection with fellow CYMS Hoey and Smith will be invaluable for NSW Country, while Allcorn’s finishing will be key as well.

Allcorn scored the match-winner in Feds’ first win of the season last weekend in Lithgow.

Hogan said she’s relishing her time playing in Orange.

“We’ve got a great bunch of girls,” she added.
