Earlier this morning it was revealed that the company had cancelled flights across the country for today, however a more permanent announcement has subsequently been made
In a post on their Facebook page the airline announced Jonathan McLeod and Bill Karageozis have been appointed as the administrators.
Domestic flights being run by the airline, including routes from Dubbo to Melbourne and Brisbane, have been cancelled, however some charter flights will continue
Managing Director Paul Bredereck spoke with the Illawarra Mercury this morning.
“The administrator is now assessing the viability and future operations of the business,” he said.
“During the period of administration the company has suspended regular public transport services.
“We hope this is a temporary measure.
“JetGo will continue to operate some charter services during this period.”
Dubbo Chamber of Commerce president Matt Wright said the move was a big blow for the region.
“Obviously over the past week there has been a lot of reports about JetGo and the action Dubbo Regional Council had taken,” he said.
“But this has come as a bit of a shock and there will be some disruption obviously for people who have booked.
“Those routes are utilised by a number of business and medical professionals so it will impact the region that way as well.
“From our perspective we would suggest people that do have tickets booked to investigate whether they can get access to refunds.”
Dubbo Regional Council is expected to make comment shortly.
