Wellington’s Galaxy Girls are set to light up Neon Party, an event that’s expected to attract a regional crowd.
Glow-in-the-dark face painting, live music, a photobooth and food are also rolled into the night, a free event open to all 12- to 17-year-olds.
Neon Party is an initiative of Signal Creative, which works with female artists in remote and regional areas with funding from Music NSW’s Indent program and support from Barnardos Wellington, Orana Arts and the Midnite Cafe.
The Galaxy Girls are the creators of Neon Caves, a piece of performance art inspired by Wellington’s Cathedral Cave.
Earlier this year they performed at the Enlighten Festival in Canberra.
Signal Creative co-director Emma Hoy said the group had been practising their DJ skills and planning activities and outfits for Neon Party.
“They’re super-pumped about it,” she said.
Neon Party will be held at the Wingewarra Activity Centre on June 23 from 7 to 9pm.
